At GUNDEL, we believe a suitcase is more than something that carries your belongings. It becomes part of every journey, accompanies unforgettable experiences and collects memories from around the world.
Our story
Born in Bavaria. Made for the world.
GUNDEL began in 2018 with a simple belief: premium aluminium luggage should combine lasting quality, timeless design and fair pricing.
From our headquarters in Georgensgmünd, Bavaria, we set out to create luggage for travellers who value thoughtful design and dependable construction without unnecessary luxury mark-ups. The production is carried out by our partner manufacture in Shanghai, China.
As passionate travellers ourselves, we had experienced the same choice again and again: affordable suitcases that compromised on materials and durability, or established luxury brands whose prices placed aluminium luggage beyond the reach of many people.
We believed there had to be a better alternative. That belief became GUNDEL.
Our first collection consisted of two models: the Cabin-Trolley for short journeys and business trips, and the Check-in for longer holidays. Together, they laid the foundation for the design language and practical philosophy that still define GUNDEL today.
Since then, our collection has continued to evolve alongside our customers. Every new model, finish and detail begins with the same question: does it make travelling more comfortable, more dependable or more enjoyable?

2018
GUNDEL is founded
A group of travel enthusiasts founds GUNDEL in Bavaria with the aim of making high-quality aluminium luggage available at a fair and honest price.
The beginning2018
Cabin-Trolley & Check-in
The first GUNDEL collection launches with two essential sizes: a compact Cabin-Trolley for hand luggage and a spacious Check-in for longer journeys.
These original models establish the distinctive embossed aluminium design that remains at the heart of the collection today.
2021
The crowdfunded Business-Trolley
Our community helps bring the Business-Trolley to life through crowdfunding. Designed for professional travel, it combines compact dimensions with an organised business interior and practical technology features.
Although the Business-Trolley is no longer part of our current collection, it remains an important chapter in our history and demonstrated the value of developing products together with our customers.

More space with the Check-in XL
As our customers began taking GUNDEL on longer journeys, demand grew for a larger suitcase with the same aluminium construction and timeless proportions.
The Check-in XL extended the collection with 86 litres of packing space for long holidays, extended stays and journeys requiring maximum capacity.

A focused collection, continuously refined
Today, our core luggage collection consists of the Cabin-Trolley, Check-in and Check-in XL, complemented by matching bundles, accessories and selected limited editions.
Rather than introducing new models simply for the sake of novelty, we continue to refine the products our customers already trust.

Our home
Designed in Georgensgmünd.
Our headquarters are located in Georgensgmünd, in the Franconian region of Bavaria. This is where we develop our products, refine details and work on the continuous improvement of the GUNDEL collection.
Being a focused, independent team allows us to stay close to our customers. Feedback from real journeys influences how we think about sizes, interiors, colours, spare parts and future product development.
Production takes place in cooperation with our manufacturing partner in Shanghai according to our defined design and quality requirements.

Alongside our permanent metallic finishes, we occasionally create limited editions that reinterpret the unmistakable GUNDEL design in a new colour.
